Working Together to Solve the Most Difficult Problems We Face as a Community

The Comcast logo on a wall.

Giving back and empowering our communities is part of the tradition and legacy of our Comcast core values. In Utah, Comcast has strong partnerships with United Way agencies across our state and each year we give our employees a chance to make a difference within their local communities. Since 2001, more than $100 million has been provided to local communities by Comcast NBCUniversal and our employees through our annual Employee Giving Campaign. In 2019 alone, Comcast invested over $108,000 to local nonprofit organizations including United Way agencies across Utah.

United Way levels the playing field to provide opportunity for every person in every community. Through a network of 1,800 community-based agencies throughout the United States and around the world, United Way addresses the particular challenges and aspirations of the local community it serves. Our Employee Giving Campaign is one of several ways we partner with United Way, including through charitable contributions to local United Ways, year-round volunteer opportunities and the promotion of our Internet Essentials program.

“Comcast cares a lot about connection, that’s what they do- they connect people to services. But they also connect their employees to the community and communities to each other. Comcast is a tremendous partner and the impact is easy to see. We are so grateful for our partnership with Comcast and their continued focus on equality in our communities.” – Bill Crim, United Way of Greater Salt Lake, President and CEO.

United Way agencies throughout our state are doing amazing work. United Way of Greater Salt Lake fosters powerful collective impact partnerships in schools, communities, and across our region and innovate the way people, organizations, and systems work together. Along the Wasatch Front, 37% of young people live at or near the poverty level. In some school districts, the rate is as high as 58%. Children from homes and neighborhoods of concentrated poverty face more challenges than they should. Through its Building Blocks for Success, the United Way of Greater Salt Lake works to ensure all Utah children and families are healthy and financially stable.

“Comcast is a very valuable partner in our efforts to support the children of Utah County. United Way works with corporate partners to pull together the people and resources necessary to strengthen our community, and Comcast and its employees are a big part of that.” –  Bill Hulterstrom, United Way of Utah County ‘s President and CEO.

United Way of Utah is all about supporting children and the people who surround them. Utah has one of the highest birthrates in the nation and United Way’s mission is to ensure children’s health and education are off to a great start and their families’ basic needs are met. Through collaborations with groups including schools and mental health professionals, United Way provides tools for parents, teachers, neighbors, and other trusted adults to help their children feel safe, connected, and confident.

At Comcast, we are very proud to partner with these agencies to support these initiatives. You can read more about Comcast’s commitment to United Way here.
