Lift Zones Help Keep the Most Vulnerable Utahns Connected

As part of Comcast’s ongoing commitment to help connect more Utahns to the internet, we have opened 30 new Lift Zone locations across Utah for students and adults who need to access critical resources.

This initiative provides free high-speed WiFi connectivity and access to hundreds of hours of educational and digital skills content to help Utahns and site coordinators navigate online learning. But we didn’t stop there. Comcast will also provide laptops and other smart devices to help better serve individuals at several Lift Zones.

“Families who only have access to one device at home, but have multiple kids, can stop into the drop-in, WiFi-connected Lift Zone center,” said Karlee Stoker, Operations Director, Boys & Girls Clubs of Weber-Davis. “Here, we can provide them with more devices and the internet access needed for completing schoolwork.”

Our goal was to work closely with community organizations to launch Lift Zones in convenient areas so community members could easily access WiFi and receive digital equity wrap-around services – and we did just that!

Lift Zones provide Utahns with a space to participate in distance learning and an avenue to complete homework. Adults also visit Lift Zones to work remotely, look for or apply for jobs and learn digital skills.
