Investing in Utah’s Growth: Comcast RISE strengthens the Smal Business Economy along the Wasatch Front

Small businesses are the heartbeat of Utah’s economy, and empowering them to thrive is the mission of Comcast RISE.
Now in its fifth year, the program is investing in the future of entrepreneurship by awarding 100 grant packages to small businesses along the Wasatch Front.
To date, Comcast RISE has provided a total of $160 million in monetary, marketing, and technology resources to 14,500 small businesses nationwide ─ underscoring Comcast’s belief that when small businesses thrive, communities thrive.
Spotlighting Local Recipients
Michelle Leo Events
For Michelle Cousins, owner and principal designer of Michelle Leo Events, the grant is recognition of the value her luxury event planning business brings to Utah’s hospitality industry.
“Being a Comcast RISE winner is powerful validation that Michelle Leo Events is on the right track,” Cousins said. “This opportunity allows me to invest where it matters, support my team, and amplify our impact on hospitality and beyond.”


JFS IT Solutions
For Francis Castillo, founder and CEO of JFS IT Solutions, her small business is more than a provider of technology services. It reflects her dreams and resilience as a Latina entrepreneur and mother.
“Words cannot fully describe the happiness and gratitude I feel,” Castillo said. “This grant is an incredible opportunity to overcome challenges, grow, and help other entrepreneurs leverage technology to build their businesses.”
Ladu Dance Studio
At Ladu Dance Studio, the impact of the grant will be felt across every corner of their Sandy location. “Having this grant is going to be an incredible opportunity for us to improve our media and communication within the studios, increasing the effectiveness of communication between our students and us,” said Alexis Pollack, co-owner and instructor with brother Daniel. “The $5,000 is going directly back into our studio to help our students and faculty.” Ladu Dance Studio offers ballroom dance, ballet, and jazz opportunities to all age groups, from young children to adults, making the grant a meaningful boost for everyone involved.


Wicked Peel Pizza Kitchen
At Wicked Peel Pizza Kitchen, tradition and innovation come together through wood-fired pizza. CEO Marylee Wallwork said the Comcast RISE grant is helping her expand the restaurant’s reach.
“I’m especially excited about the marketing support,” Wallwork said. “This opportunity will help us spread the word, attract new customers and share our passion for authentic Italian food with the community.”
Investing in Utah’s Future
