Comcast Completes $4 Million Expansion to Nearly 2,000 Additional Homes & Businesses in Northern Utah

Kaysville, South Ogden, Bountiful and Farmington Residents Can Now Sign Up To Access Comcast’s Fiber-rich, High-speed Network and Xfinity and Comcast Business Products, Including Gigabit Internet

Comcast announced the completion of a $4 million expansion of its smart, fast and reliable fiber-based network in Northern Utah. The expansion brings residential broadband speeds up to 1.2 gigabits per second (Gbps) and business speeds up to 100 Gbps to nearly 2,000 additional homes and businesses in Kaysville, South Ogden, Bountiful and Farmington.

Since May 2019, Comcast has invested nearly $6 million in expanding its network to new areas in Northern Utah. With this project, and its recent expansion in Sandy, Park City and Ogden, Comcast now reaches nearly 3,500 additional Northern Utah homes and businesses. Comcast is also expanding its network in Salt Lake, Weber, and Utah counties, which will make its network available to thousands more by 2023.

Davis welcomes Comcast’s continuous investment in our community. A broadband expansion project like this one strengthens workforce development, and virtual education and employment,” said Davis County Commissioner Lorene Kamalu. “A robust broadband infrastructure allows the county to be attractive to businesses that seek to locate or expand their operations here. I am grateful for Comcast’s commitment to expanding broadband access in critical areas of Davis County.”

“Reliable broadband services are essential to Utah’s ability to grow and welcome business entrants and people wanting to relocate to the state for a better quality of life,” said Utah State Senate President Stuart Adams. “Comcast’s network investment ensures that our community can support healthcare, educational, or business data and connectivity needs while keeping pace with the broader economy.”

“We live and work in Utah, and our commitment is to deliver innovative, reliable and affordable broadband service to everyone in our footprint,” said Chris Dunkeson, vice president technical operations, Comcast Mountain West Region, which includes Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona. “The company contributed $416.1M in technology and infrastructure improvements statewide in the last three years alone.”

Notable investments over the past three years include: West Ogden, Spanish Fork Canyon Creek area, North Salt Lake, Draper, the Inland port, and over 15 data center site upgrades in Utah.

In addition to its network investments, Comcast is committed to advancing digital equity in all the communities it serves. In Utah, Comcast has launched 30 new Lift Zone locations for students and adults who need to access critical resources. This initiative provides free high-speed WiFi connectivity and access to hundreds of hours of educational and digital skills information to help Utahns and site coordinators navigate online learning. Comcast also provides laptops, smart devices, and digital literacy training to help better serve individuals at several Lift Zones.

Our state is making great strides toward digital equity thanks to engaged community members and dedicated partners like Comcast,” said Liz Gabbitas, Digital Access & Education Program manager, Utah State Library division. “These types of collaborations are how we’ll get every Utahn connected.”
