Comcast Brings Solid Solutions for Privacy

We lock our homes. We lock our cars. We lock our businesses, and for good reasons. We want to protect what we own. Comcast agrees.

In fact, for more than 20 years, we’ve applied privacy policies and security practices that protect our customers to the highest degree.

Privacy for our customers has always been critically important to us at Comcast,” said Bryan Thomas, Vice President of Engineering, Comcast Mountain West Region. “We believe that customers’ internet activity is their business, not ours.

“Therefore, we do not track web sites customers visit or apps they use. We don’t sell information about our customers to anyone. Their privacy is their privacy, which is something we at Comcast hold in the highest regard.”

With cybercrime expected to cost businesses and internet users at all levels more than $6 trillion in 2021, Comcast knows cybersecurity is essential to maintaining privacy.

Comcast protects our customers with multiple layers of security that automatically detects, and blocks cyberattacks,” said Thomas. “And that can literally be hundreds of thousands of cyber events every second. That’s why we have a team of security experts who work to protect our customers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”

For an additional layer of assurance for customers, Comcast deletes internet queries every 24 hours.

Where customers search and what they do is strictly their business,” he said. “That’s why we delete domain name system queries every day, except in very specific cases where we need to research a security or network performance issue, protect against security threats or to comply with the law.”

To be sure, Comcast’s products are designed to give customers more control over their internet, WiFi, and home devices, and better security to help keep home, family, personal information, and businesses safe and secure.

At no added cost, we provide Xfinity xFi Advanced Security, which monitors all devices connected to customers’ home networks, notifies them of threats, and automatically blocks suspicious activity,” said Thomas. “For customers at home, that means everything from computers and mobile phones to home security cameras and smart thermostats are protected, providing peace of mind.”

While privacy is essential, it can be confusing. That’s why Comcast employs a team to keep customers, their accounts and devices more secure.

We know the number of choices and changing technologies can be confusing, so we’re on-hand with tips and advice whenever you need it and wherever you are,” Thomas said. “Our team will give you tools, tips, and advice online, on the phone, in Xfinity stores, and via social channels to help you protect your personal information, educate you about parental control features, and help protect you and your family from cyber threats.

“That’s our business, and we’re proud to be able to keep our friends and neighbors in Utah safe and secure on the Internet.”
