Entrepreneur: LIFT Labs Startup Accelerator Supports Entrepreneurialism and Bolsters the Economy

An audience listens to a speaker at a LIFT Labs event.

The 2019 Silicon Slopes Tech Summit is bringing together the world’s top tech leaders to convene with entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and the community. At Comcast, we’re excited to join with our community to experience a thought-provoking two-days and hear from keynote speakers like PEEK CEO Ruzwana Bashir, G2 Crowd CEO Godard Abel, and Overstock Chief Algorithms Officer Kamelia Aryafar. Attendees can participate in breakout sessions about technology, entrepreneurship, and social good to name a few. There will also be a variety of other entertainment and networking opportunities.

The success of the summit proves entrepreneurship is essential to growing the Utah economy. We understand there’s not a specific pathway to entrepreneurship and we’d love for you to join us in this conversation during the Summit.

Comcast started out as a startup more than 50 years ago when the company was founded by Ralph Roberts in Tupelo, MS. From this beginning, we know from experience how entrepreneurialism is a catalyst for driving growth, innovation, and the Utah economy. In the spirit of Ralph Roberts, Comcast launched a startup accelerator program to fuel and grow the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The startup accelerator is part of Comcast NBCUniversal’s LIFT Labs for Entrepreneurs, a collection of programs offering talented entrepreneurs access to Comcast NBCUniversal’s renowned network of partners, brands, and mentors to foster rapid breakthroughs in connectivity, media, and entertainment.

Just think what Utah’s economy would look like in 10 – 15 years if startups received all the support and resources needed to be successful.

Comcast NBCUniversal and Techstars will select up to 12 startups throughout the country to participate in this immersive 13-week program and position the companies for possible partnerships with Comcast NBCUniversal’s partners and brands.

Startups will partner with mentors and teams at the new Comcast Technology Center in Philadelphia. They will also participate in custom workshops, training sessions, and business meetings unique to the company and its LIFT Labs program. The accelerator will culminate with a “Demo Day” in October, where the companies will pitch their businesses to hundreds of investors, mentors, Comcast NBCUniversal leaders, and members of the tech and startup community. In addition, each company will have access to the workspace at LIFT Labs in Philadelphia until June 2020.
