Beyond School Walls Partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah

In January 2017, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America joined with other mentoring organizations across the country to celebrate National Mentoring Month. At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, we celebrated with a “walk in their shoes” public awareness campaign.

If you have ever had a mentor or have been a mentor, you know that building a strong mentoring relationship helps you to understand more about another person and their way of life. When you mentor a young person they are able to imagine new possibilities for their future, as they learn more about you, your family, your interests, and your career.

We are so grateful for the “Bigs” at Comcast who volunteer to mentor the kids from Heartland Elementary School in our Beyond School Walls partnership. By each mentor at Comcast taking the time out of their workday to eat, read, and play with their “Little,” they are helping them to develop new skills and ideas. This helps them be better prepared to face adversity in their lives.

You can watch the following video to learn more about the ways in which Comcast has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah: http://studio5.ksl.com/index.php?nid=124&sid=42923532

And, there are many ways for you to get involved as well. Right now, there are more than 250 kids waiting for a mentor in Utah. To find out how you can become a mentor, please visit our web site at BBBSU.org.
