SALT LAKE CITY – Oct. 17, 2013 Comcast is helping people stay connected by launching Xfinity WiFi service along the Wasatch Front. For no additional charge to Xfinity Internet customers, Xfinity WiFi now provides fast wireless Internet access in places where people work, commute, shop, dine and socialize—including parks, shopping districts, schools, small businesses and more.

As part of its WiFi rollout, Comcast has installed and activated more than 900 Xfinity WiFi hotspots in Ogden, Salt Lake City, Provo and many other cities along the Wasatch Front. The locations include favorite gathering spots such as the Temple Square neighborhood, University Mall in Orem and downtown Sugar House, with plans to add more hotspots in more areas on an ongoing basis.

“People use the Internet on the go all the time, but mobile data plans are increasingly limited and can be expensive,” said Comcast Regional Vice President Kyle McSlarrow. “With Xfinity WiFi, now our customers can save mobile phone data and get faster Internet while they’re out and about.”

The WiFi network is not just local. Xfinity Internet customers can access more than 300,000 hotspots nationwide. By placing hotspots in high-traffic areas, Comcast is making it more convenient to access the Internet away from home.

Xfinity Internet customers should search for “xfinitywifi” or “CableWiFi” on the list of available networks and follow prompts to begin their WiFi sessions.  They can also use the Xfinity WiFi app, available for iOS and Android devices, to locate Xfinity WiFi hotspots nationwide.  Non-Xfinity internet customers can access Xfinity WiFi hotspots for up to two, one hour-long sessions every 30 days.

In addition to WiFi access, Comcast also offers Xfinity Internet customers other value-added services at no additional cost, such as the Constant Guard security suite, the most comprehensive suite of online protection (a $360 value) that includes top-rated Norton™ Security Suite, and IDENTITY GUARD®. In addition, Comcast offers access to the Constant Guard Website, in both English http://xfinity.comcast.net/constantguard and in Spanish http://xfinity.comcast.net/constantguard/Seguridad, and the Constant Guard Mobile App, which provide tips, tools and resources on Internet safety and security threats.
