This month, Comcast Utah announced that Beth Mitchell will serve as the new Director of External Affairs for Utah.
In this new role, Mitchell will bring her experiences as an innovator and leader to strengthen Comcast’s partnerships with the community, government partners, employees and the public. She will manage Comcast’s external relations strategies, including community impact work, communications and local government affairs.
Three things to know about Beth:
- Before joining Comcast, Mitchell served as Director of Performance and Innovation in Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams’ cabinet, where she launched the Office of Innovation, Data and Engagement. The center helped improve government relations and communications with the public, and launch programs that used technology to address injustice, inequity and poverty.
- Mitchell and her husband are native upstate New Yorkers, but they moved to Utah in 2012 and appreciate all of the skiing, mountain biking and national parks the state has to offer.
- Earlier in her career, Mitchell managed communications and marketing at a nonprofit that served NYC public school students.
Currently, Beth serves on the board of Action Utah, a nonpartisan community engagement network that works to advocate for policies that advance our community on issues of education, public health and the well-being of families, communities and the environment. She is also an active member of Utah Wonder Women, the largest networking and mentorship organization for professional women in the state.
Beth has a B.A. in English and Art History from Bucknell University and an M.A. in Journalism from Syracuse University. She lives in Salt Lake City with her husband, young daughter and son.
